Ingredients

  • 1 lb (500 g) lean ground beef
  • 1 each, small green pepper and onion, chopped
  • 1 can (284 mL) mushroom pieces and stems, drained
  • 1 pkg (193 g) Hamburger Helper* Four Cheese Lasagna
  • 2 1/2 cups (625 mL) hot water
  • 1 cup (250 mL) milk
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) Milk

Steps

    Brown beef in large frying pan over medium high heat; drain.

    Stir in green pepper, onion, mushrooms, sauce mix, hot water and milk. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally.

    Stir in uncooked pasta. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; stir in tomato.

    Stir together topping mix and 1/4 cup (50 mL) milk about 30 seconds or until almost smooth. Stir beef mixture; pour topping mixture evenly over beef mixture. Let stand uncovered 5 minutes (sauce will thicken as it stands).

    Tip: For a little extra zip, try adding a pinch of hot pepper flakes or a few drops of hot pepper sauce to beef mixture while cooking.
