Ingredients

  • 1 box Betty Crocker* SuperMoist* White Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and egg whites called for on cake mix box
  • 1 container Betty Crocker* Creamy Deluxe* Vanilla Frosting (or any white variety)
  • 30 large marshmallows
  • Birthday candles, if desired

Steps

  •
    1
    Heat oven to 350ºF.
  •
    2
Make, bake and cool cake mix as directed on box for 24 cupcakes. Frost cupcakes with frosting.
  •
    3
Spray blades of kitchen scissors with cooking spray. Cut each marshmallow crosswise into 4 slices; sprinkle slices with coloured sugar. Arrange 5 slices on each cupcake in flower shape. Place candle in centre of each flower. Store loosely covered.

Expert Tips

  • Tip 1
Special Touch: Use edible glitter in place of the coloured sugar for extra sparkle.
  • Tip 2
Purchasing: Check out party-supply or cake-decorating stores for fun birthday candles.
  • Tip 3
Did You Know: If you have only one pan and a recipe calls for more cupcakes than your pan will make, cover and refrigerate the rest of the batter while baking the first batch. Cool the pan about 15 minutes, then bake the rest of the batter, adding 1 to 2 minutes to the bake time.
