Make a tropical munchie mix with whole-grain cereal, fruit mix, coconut, nuts and ginger.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups (1 L) Oatmeal Crisp* Almond Cereal
  • 1/3 cup (75 mL) sliced almonds
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) chopped crystallized ginger
  • 7 oz (189 g) dried tropical three-fruit mix
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) ground ginger
  • 2 tbsp (25 mL) margarine
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) coconut

    Heat oven to 300ºF. In large bowl, mix cereal, almonds, crystallized ginger and dried fruit.

    In 1-quart saucepan, heat brown sugar, ground ginger and margarine over low heat, stirring occasionally, until spread is melted; stir in coconut. Pour sugar mixture over cereal mixture; toss until evenly coated. Spread in ungreased 15x10x1-inch pan.

    Bake 15 minutes, stirring twice. Cool 5 minutes. Store in tightly covered container.
