Ingredients

  • 4 cups (1 L) fresh blueberries
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) sugar
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) cornstarch
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) lemon juice
  • 2 cups (500 mL) BISQUICK* mix
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) milk
  • 3 tbsp (45 mL) butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 tbsp (25 mL) sugar

    Heat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly butter bottom and side of deep 9-inch (23 cm) pie plate.

    Mix blueberries, 1/2 cup (125 mL) sugar, cornstarch and lemon juice in large bowl. Let stand 10 minutes. Spoon into pie plate.

    In another large bowl, stir remaining ingredients until soft dough forms. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto fruit mixture. Bake 35 to 45 minutes or until fruit is bubbly and topping is deep golden brown and baked through.

    Variation: Prepare this classic with four cups (1 L) sliced peaches instead of the berries and add 1/4 tsp (1 mL) cinnamon. Or use half blueberries and half peaches for a yummy combination.
