Ingredients

  • 8 cups (2 L) Chocolate Chex™ cereal
  • ¾ cup (175 mL) packed brown sugar
  • 6 tbsp (90 mL) butter or margarine
  • 3 tbsp (45 mL) light corn syrup
  • ¼ tsp (1 mL) baking soda
  • ¾ cup (175 mL) white chocolate moulding wafers (for drizzle)

Steps

  •
    1
Into large microwavable bowl, measure cereal; set aside. Line cookie sheet with waxed paper.
  •
    2
In 2-cup (500 mL) microwavable measuring cup, microwave brown sugar, butter and corn syrup uncovered on High 1 to 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute, until melted and smooth. Stir in baking soda until dissolved. Pour over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Microwave on High 3 minutes, stirring every minute. Spread on cookie sheet. Cool 10 minutes. Break into bite-size pieces.
  •
    3
In small microwaveable bowl, microwave white chocolate moulding wafers uncovered on Medium-High for 15 to 30 seconds. Stir. Continue in 15 to 30 second intervals, stirring each time until all the wafers are fully melted. The wafers will retain their shape until they are stirred. Drizzle over cereal mixture; refrigerate until set. Store in airtight container.

Expert Tips

  • Tip 1
COOKING GLUTEN FREE? Always read labels to make sure each recipe ingredient is gluten free. Products and ingredient sources can change.
  • Tip 2
For easy drizzling, spoon the melted white chocolate wafers into a small food-storage bag. Snip off one tiny bottom corner and squeeze over the cereal mixture.
  • Tip 3
White chocolate moulding wafers are easily found at any bulk food store.
  • Tip 4
Add more dazzle to the drizzle by using two kinds of melted chocolate, as shown in the photo.
  • Tip 5
Instead of waxed paper, you can spray the cookie sheet with cooking spray or line with nonstick foil.
