Cereal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Fill your cookie jar with a healthier option than regular chocolate chip cookies. This recipe's made with three whole-grain cereals.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (500 mL) packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) canola oil or vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups (500 mL) CHEERIOS* cereal, finely crushed
  • 11/4 cups (300 mL) flour
  • 11/2 cups (375 mL) quick cooking or old fashioned oats
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) baking powder
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) baking soda
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) FIBRE 1* Original cereal
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) chocolate chips

    Heat oven to 350°F (180°C).

    In large bowl, beat brown sugar, butter, oil, vanilla and eggs with electric mixer on low speed until blended. With spoon, stir in crushed Cheerios* cereal, flour, oats, baking powder and baking soda until well mixed. Stir in Fibre 1* cereal and chocolate chips.

    On ungreased baking sheets, drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2-inches (5 cm) apart.

    Bake 14 to 17 minutes or until set. Cool 1 minute; remove from baking sheets to cooling rack.

Expert Tips

  • Tip 1
    Variation: For about 8 1/2 dozen small cookies, drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake 11 to 14 minutes.
