Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) Bisquick* Mix
  • 1 cup (250 mL) old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats
  • 3/4 cup (175 mL) packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup (75 mL) butter or margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cups (300 mL) white baking chips
  • 2 tbsp (25 mL) whipping cream
  • 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) mixed nuts or cashews

    Heat oven to 350ºF. Lightly grease bottom only of 13x9-inch pan, with shortening or spray bottom with nonstick cooking spray.

    Stir Bisquick mix, oats, brown sugar, butter and egg in large bowl until well blended. Press on bottom of pan. Bake 16 to 18 minutes or until golden brown.

    Place white baking chips and whipping cream in small microwavable bowl. Microwave uncovered on Medium-High (70%) 1 minute; stir. Microwave 10 to 15 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Spread over baked layer. Sprinkle with nuts; press gently into topping. Cool completely, about 1 hour. For bars, cut into 8 rows by 4 rows.

    Tip: There's a treasure chest of goodness in these sweet and salty nutty bars. You can use salted pecan halves or peanuts in place of the mixed nuts. Keep bars tightly covered at room temperature, or freeze up to three months.
