Baking cookies with wheat germ, canola oil, egg white and dark chocolate adds a better-for-you halo to a chewy blueberry cookie.

Ingredients

  • 1 pouch Betty Crocker* Oatmeal Cookie Mix
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) toasted wheat germ
  • 3 tbsp (45 mL) butter or margarine, softened
  • 3 tbsp (45 mL) canola oil
  • 3 tbsp (45 mL) water
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) dried blueberries
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) whole almonds, chopped
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) semi-sweet chocolate chips

    Heat oven to 350ºF. In large bowl, stir cookie mix, wheat germ, butter, oil, water and egg white until soft dough forms. Stir in blueberries, almonds and chocolate chips.

    On ungreased cookie sheets, drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart.

    Bake 11 to 13 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool 5 minutes; remove from cookie sheets to cooling rack.
