A Life Made Delicious includes Active Healthy Kids
We know how hard it can be to find time in your busy day to keep kids active and healthy. That's why we partnered with Active Healthy Kids Canada—together, we can find The Power to Move Kids.TM
The annual Active Healthy Kids Canada Report Card tells us that only 13% of Canadian kids are getting the recommended 90 minutes of physical activity each day. Ninety minutes may seem like a lot, but there are plenty of small things you can do at home, at school and in the community that can quickly add up to a healthy lifestyle. The Report Card also shows that kids spend 4-6 hours each weekday watching TV, playing video games and chatting or surfing on the computer. We need to turn some of that "screen time" back into play time!
Active Healthy Kids Canada, working with strategic partners ParticipACTION and the Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research Group at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, regularly interacts with research experts, educators and community program leaders and across the country to help achieve this goal.
As our Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Mark Tremblay likes to say, we need to get back to basics, and help make the healthy choices the easy choices for kids and families.
So, in the Active Healthy Kids section of Life Made Delicious, you'll find some "basics" to help you do just that, including:
- Simple and fun activity ideas to keep your family physically active
- Brief articles and poll questions to keep you informed and test your knowledge
- Answers to frequently asked questions
The Report Card also shows that more active kids have more active parents and caregivers. So, set a good example, and join in. Let's make family time "play time!"
