Grilled Taco-Barbecue Chicken

Dressed in chili sauce, cumin and taco seasoning, this grilled barbecue chicken is delish.


2 tbsp (25 mL) Old El Paso* Taco Seasoning Mix
1 tsp (5 mL) oregano
11/4 lbs (625 g) boneless, skinless chicken pieces
1 tbsp (15 mL) olive oil
1/4 cup (50 mL) barbecue sauce
2 tbsp (25 mL) chili sauce
1/2 tsp (2 mL) cumin


  • Heat gas or charcoal grill. In shallow bowl, mix taco seasoning mix and oregano. Brush chicken with oil; sprinkle with taco seasoning mixture.
  • Place chicken on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 10 to 15 minutes, turning once, until juice of chicken is clear when centre of thickest part is cut (170°F/76°C).
  • Meanwhile, in small microwavable bowl, mix barbecue sauce, chili sauce and cumin. Cover; microwave on High 30 to 60 seconds or until hot. Serve sauce over chicken.

Kitchen Tip: Oven Directions: Heat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line shallow baking pan with foil or spray with non-stick cooking spray. Place coated chicken in pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, turning once, until juice of chicken is clear when centre of thickest part is cut (170°F/76°C).
