Ingredients:
1 1/2 lb (750 g) lean ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped (1/4 cup/50 mL)
1/4 cup (50 mL) regular or nonalcoholic beer
1 tbsp (15 mL) Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp (5 mL) salt
1/4 tsp (1 mL) pepper
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
6 rye or whole wheat hamburger buns, split
Ketchup, if desired
Pickle slices, if desired
Variation : For Burgundy Burgers, substitute 1/4 cup (50 mL) Burgundy wine for the beer!Success : Avoid pressing down on a hamburger patty while it's cooking--you'll squeeze out much of the flavourful juices!
