Choco-Hazelnut Latte Cookies

Love hazelnut coffee? Create the same latte flavour in a deliciously easy, addictive chocolate cookie.
1 pouch Betty Crocker* Sugar cookie mix
1/3 cup (75 mL) unsweetened baking cocoa
3 tbsp (45 mL) instant coffee granules or crystals
½ cup (125 mL) butter or margarine, softened
3 tbsp (45 mL) hazelnut-flavoured syrup for beverages
1 ½ cups (375 mL) toasted hazelnuts, chopped
1 cup (250 mL) miniature semisweet chocolate chips
2/3 cup (150 mL) Betty Crocker* Creamy Deluxe* Frosting (any chocolate flavour)
4 tsp (20 mL) hazelnut-flavoured syrup for beverages

Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, stir together cookie mix, cocoa and instant coffee. Add butter, 3 tbsp (45 mL) syrup and the egg; stir until soft dough forms. Stir in 1 cup (250 mL) of the nuts and the chocolate chips.

On ungreased baking sheets, drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches (5 cm) apart. Press each mound to flatten slightly.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set. Cool 3 minutes; remove from baking sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 15 minutes.

In small bowl, stir frosting and 4 tsp (20 mL) syrup. Spread about 1 tsp (5 mL) frosting on each cookie. Sprinkle with remaining ½ cup (125 mL) nuts.
How To: To toast hazelnuts, heat oven to 350oF. Spread nuts in ungreased shallow pan. Bake uncovered 6 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until light brown.
Purchasing: Look for flavoured syrup in the coffee and tea section of your supermarket.
