Basil-Spinach Dip

Fresh herbs, green onions and reduced-fat ingredients turn traditional spinach dip into terrific dip.


1 box (10 oz/300 g) frozen chopped spinach, thawed, squeezed to drain
3/4 cup (175 mL) reduced-fat mayonnaise or salad dressing
1 1/2 cups (375 mL) Fat Free plain yogurt
1 can (218 mL) water chestnuts, drained, chopped
1/4 cup (50 mL) chopped fresh basil leaves or 1 tbsp (15 mL) dried basil
2 tbsp (30 mL) chopped green onions
1/2 tsp (2 mL) garlic salt
Pita chips, crackers or raw cut up vegetables for dipping


  • In large bowl, mix all ingredients except raw vegetables or crackers. Serve with pita chips or raw vegetables for dipping.




Tip
Serve-With: Try tasty dippers like baby carrots, sugar snap peas, sliced cucumber or halved grape or cherry tomatoes.
Special Touch : Top with chopped, sweet red pepper for a garnish and serve with additional slices of red pepper with the dip.
