If you read my 'regular' blog MommyKnows, then you probably know that I've committed to having a green smoothie every day! Yes, every day. It's easier than you think! They're delicious. Well most of them have been.
I'm not one to ever follow a recipe exactly, so mostly I just make up my own Green Smoothie recipes, based on what I have on hand. I keep in mind that a green smoothie is when you mix greens with a fruit smoothie. It doesn't necessarily have to be green in colour, but it should contain a significant quanity of green leafy veggies.
What's the point? To consume more green stuff of course! Why? Well the benefits are numerous. Just read this article over at incrediblesmoothies.com. For me it's about getting a more nutrient rich diet in a fast and simple way. I've noticed several other benefits as well:

* Improved digestion
* More Energy
The following is a favourite family recipe. ALL of my children will drink this one!
Ingredients:
1 granny smith apple quarted and cored (leave the peel on)
1/2 Pear quartered and cored (leave the peel on)
1 orange quartered and peeled
1 cup of pineapple chunks
1 1/2 cups of spinach
juice of 1/8 of a lime
1 1/2 cups of water
1 cup of ice
Directions:
Put all ingredients in a high powered blender, blend until smooth (approximately 1 minute)
