Grilled Corn-Stuffed Turkey Burgers

Surprise! Bite into a burger and be delighted with the tasty extras grilled right inside the burger.


1 1/4 lb (625 g) ground turkey
1/2 cup (125 mL) plain bread crumbs
1 can Old El Paso* Chopped Green Chilies
1/2 cup (125 mL) Green Giant* Niblets* Frozen Whole Kernel Corn
2 tbsp (25 mL) Old El Paso* Thick 'N Chunky Salsa
1 tbsp (15 mL) chopped fresh cilantro
1/2 tsp (2 mL) salt
4 slices Cheddar cheese
4 hamburger buns, split


  • Heat gas or charcoal grill. In large bowl, mix turkey, bread crumbs and chilies. Shape mixture into 8 patties, about 1/4 inch thick.
  • In small bowl, mix corn, salsa, cilantro and salt. Spoon about 2 tablespoons corn mixture onto centre of 4 patties. Top with remaining patties; press edges to seal.
  • Place patties on grill. Cover grill; cook over medium heat 12 to 14 minutes, turning once, until thermometer inserted in centre of patties reads 165 ºF. Top patties with cheese. Cover grill; cook about 1 minute or until cheese is melted. Serve on buns. Serve with additional salsa and chopped cilantro if desired.

Tip
Success : If you're using a charcoal grill, plan on about 40 minutes to prep the grill and heat charcoal to the correct temperature. Gas and electric grills will take about 10 minutes.
