I always have visions of homey weekends spent baking a plethora of Christmas inpired goodies, my reality is all too different! I've spent the past five weekends out of town getting the kids to ski training.
Ski racing is our passion, but it certainly does lend itself to facilitating those baking fests I dream of. Winter is when I earn my title of 'Mom-on-the-Go!' and just because I can't spend entire weekends baking doesn't mean the kids and I can't create some fun holiday treats together. My girls love sprinkles and busy or not it's just not Christmas without some chocolately, sparkly goodness!
My Christmas tree cookies were inspired by this Pillsbury 3 Steps to WOW Chocolate Chip Tree Cookie recipe. I have to say 'inspired', because the cookies looked so easy and straight forward that I didn't bother reading the recipe before I made them. I just used my own super easy steps!
Ingredients:
1 pkg
Pillsbury* Refrigerated Chocolate Chip Cookies 1/2 cup (125 mL) semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted
Coloured sugar sprinkles
Step 1 --> preheat oven to 350f
Step 2 --> roll out Pillsbury chocolate chip cookie dough and cut out tree shapes (I used a tree shaped cookie cutter). Place on cookie sheet.
Step 3 --> Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool 1 minute; remove from baking sheet to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 15 minutes. Drizzle each cookie with melted chocolate chips; Sprinkle with coloured sugar sprinkles (or similar) to look like ornaments or lights.
The
REAL recipe uses an equally simple, but way more creative process to make the cookie trees. I'm definitely not one of those my way or the highway kind of gals, so make sure to check out it out and do whatever you think is easier!
